Who is behind this center
Doing Life Today is an independent Parkinson's education and community organization founded by Parkinson's advocate Bryce Perry. Bryce has lived with Parkinson's since 2010. The Center combines patient experience with published medical sources, plain-language explanation and practical questions people can take to qualified clinicians.
This site provides education and peer support. It does not diagnose, recommend an individual treatment or replace medical care.
How content is created
- Start with the patient question. We identify what a person or care partner needs to understand, decide or ask next.
- Use identifiable sources. Medical claims are grounded in sources such as government health agencies, professional guidance, peer-reviewed research and established Parkinson's organizations.
- Separate fact from uncertainty. We distinguish established treatment, emerging evidence and investigational research.
- Use plain language without removing risk. Benefits, limitations, burdens and unanswered questions belong in the same explanation.
- Avoid individual recommendations. We do not use a quiz, story or sponsor message to tell someone that DBS is right for them.
Review and dating standards
Every clinical guide should show when it was last reviewed. We update content when important evidence, safety information, availability or guidance changes. Research opportunities are checked more frequently because recruitment and locations can change.
Medical sourcing does not mean that every page has been personally approved by a clinician. When a named clinician or external reviewer has reviewed a resource, we will identify that review rather than imply it.
What sponsorship can and cannot buy
Doing Life Today may accept funding from DBS manufacturers, research sponsors, clinics or other organizations. Funding can support production, distribution, accessibility, events or measurement. It cannot purchase a favourable conclusion.
- Sponsors may check factual descriptions of their own product, program or study.
- Sponsors may not remove clinically relevant risks, limitations or alternatives.
- Sponsors may not control unrelated educational content or user data.
- Sponsored material must remain clearly distinguishable from independent education.
- We do not promise participant recruitment, treatment uptake or positive coverage.
- Every journey stage will contain more independent education than sponsored content.
A commercial relationship does not change an investigational therapy into an established one or make a device appropriate for every person.
How relationships are disclosed
A general policy is not a substitute for a disclosure. When a company or study sponsor has a financial or organizational relationship connected to a specific feature, the relationship will be stated close to that feature in direct language.
Where relevant, we will distinguish production funding, sponsorship, in-kind support, affiliate compensation and participant- or referral-based payment. If no payment is received, we may state that when it helps readers understand the relationship.
Standards for research opportunities
Research pages explain the study in plain language, identify its investigational status and link to an official record or sponsor-controlled information. Doing Life Today does not determine eligibility or replace informed consent. We aim to include questions about burden, travel, compensation, privacy, withdrawal and what happens after participation.
We do not collect clinical screening answers on this public site unless a future feature clearly explains who receives them, why they are collected and how they are protected.
Corrections and concerns
If you find a factual error, outdated research listing, unclear disclosure or accessibility problem, please tell us. We will review credible concerns and correct material errors promptly. Significant corrections will be dated or explained when doing so helps readers understand the change.
